Feel a Difference (in yourself).

Join the Taru Movement.

Ours is a movement that is good for you and the environment.

Planting a tree is a fundamental life skill. Yet many of us have never learnt it or have forgotten how to do it.

The act of planting a tree, is one of the most enriching experiences you can have – Parting the soil to make space, then gently placing the sapling, covering it up and then gently watering it. It enriches you emotionally, mentally and physically!

We are on a mission to enable the planting of 80000 trees by 2030. We want people who pledge money towards this drive, to also physically come and plant a tree. So, come join us in making a difference and finding joy while doing so.

What is the Taru Movement?

The Taru Movement is an initiative to get more people to experience the joy of planting trees.

We aim to give individuals the opportunity to not just make the world greener through monetary contributions, but also by getting their hands dirty by planting the trees themselves. When we experience it once, we will want to do it again and again.

It is easy to just make a monetary contribution to a cause. Most of the times, it becomes a transaction that we do once and forget about. But when we take another step forward and plant a tree ourselves, it becomes a memorable action that we won’t be able to forget easily.

Background - From One to Many
It started as an experiment in 2021 when Reuben Rato, Founder and MD at Rato Communications, decided to celebrate his birthday more meaningfully by planting as many trees. He invited his family to pledge trees as gifts. He realized that the true joy was not in collecting the contributions for the trees, but in the act of planting them.
A Growing Movement
60 trees were pledged in the first year.
150 in the second year, and,
300 in the third.
1000 trees already planted.
It was in the third year that the Taru Movement was made into its current avatar. We made a pledge to enable the planting of 80,000 trees by 2030.
What's in it for Us?

Joy and satisfaction.

There is no monetary gain for us.

Whatever money we collect is directed straight to the concerned NGO.
What's in it for You?

Joy – In the experience of planting a tree yourself.

Pride – In participating in an initiative that is the need of the hour.

Satisfaction – In the fact that you have done something towards making the world greener.
How do we do it?
We are enablers. We help connect the dots. We help connect NGOs with individuals or organizations who wish to plant trees in whatever scale they wish to.
